Erik ten Hag breaks silence on Old Trafford exit rumours ahead of FA Cup final vs Man City

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed he has already held talks with the club hierarchy and will go on holiday the day after the FA Cup final.

Speaking in the press conference ahead of tomorrow’s all-Manchester FA Cup final, Ten Hag insisted that he is not seeking assurances over his future.

He said: “We already did (discussion with INEOS) and on Sunday I will go on holiday; I think I deserve it.

“It’s (the assurance) not necessary. We go for next season.

“I think we improved a lot. When you consider all the injuries we’ve had, it’s a horrible season for us.

“We want to improve the squad, we want to create a team for the future, but in the meantime, we want to win trophies.

“On Saturday, we have a big opportunity to win another trophy, and a third final in two years, I would say, is not too bad.”

Ten Hag has found it challenging to deliver positive results in the 2023/24 season. United finished the Premier League season in eighth, their lowest-ever PL finish.

They must beat Man City in the FA Cup final to secure European football for the next campaign.

The recent reports suggest that Ten Hag will be sacked regardless of the outcome of the cup final.

It is shocking to see these reports coming out a day before the all-important encounter between two rivals.

The former Ajax head coach tried to make his case to remain in charge at United by talking about injuries.

Several injuries to key players have hindered Ten Hag’s ideas to field his preferred XI. The Red Devils have played half of their campaign without a specialist left-back.

Victory in the final could strengthen Ten Hag’s case to stay in charge of the team.
