Maggie Haberman taunts Trump over the 'Apprentice' biopic that's driving him nuts

New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman taunted former President Donald Trump Friday over the controversial biopic he's taking legal action to kill.

Haberman shared on X Friday an exclusive Variety article revealing Trump sent a cease and desist letter to stop the release and sale of "The Apprentice," a movie about the president's early days.

"Apparently Trump wants to make Gabe Sherman’s movie a success," Haberman quipped.

The independent film stars Sebastian Stan as Trump and Jeremy Strong as his notorious mentor Roy Cohn, a prosecutor who served as a "political hitman" for controversial figures who include Sen. Joe McCarthy.

The movie premiered in Cannes earlier this week and immediate spurred outrage from Trump, who denies a controversial scene that depicts him raping his wife Ivana.

:It presents a damning portrait of the former president as an ethically compromised, philanderer who stiffs contractors and cuts deals with the mob to get his buildings completed," writes Variety.

"It includes other controversial details, including a scene where Trump rapes his first wife, Ivana, and depicts him abusing amphetamines to lose weight, as well as undergoing liposuction and plastic surgery."

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung has publicly called the film defamatory, Variety notes.

“This ‘film’ is pure malicious defamation, should not see the light of day, and doesn’t even deserve a place in the straight-to-DVD section of a bargain bin at a soon-to-be-closed discount movie store," Cheung said "It belongs in a dumpster fire."

According to Haberman, the Trump team has done the film a big favor by whetting the appetite of the American public.
