Pakistan to compensate families of 5 Chinese killed in suicide attack
Pakistan will compensate the families of five Chinese engineers with $2.58 million. They were killed in a suicide bombing in March while traveling to Dasu Dam.
The government of Pakistan will also give $8,950 to the family of the Pakistani driver who died in the attack.
The compensation decision was made during a meeting led by Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb.
Pakistani Officials claim the bombing was planned in Afghanistan, with the attacker being Afghan. However, the Taliban officials deny involvement.
Earlier, Pakistani journalist Nusrat Javed reported that China asked the Taliban government in Afghanistan to expel the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan from Afghanistan.
After taking control, the Afghan Taliban have given safe places to many TTP members in Afghanistan, as claimed by the Pakistani officials.
Many Chinese are working on projects linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Some have faced attacks by militants who accuse them of exploiting resources.
China manages security in Pakistan’s Gwadar port. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, worth $65 billion, connects the two countries, so securing border areas is crucial.
Recently, Pakistani officials advised Chinese diplomats and managers to avoid border areas.
Many Chinese work on projects for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. In March, five Chinese and their Pakistani driver died in a suicide attack in Dasu, Pakistan.
