A CORONATION Street resident has revealed plans to leave Weatherfield for a new adventure in emotional scenes.

Friday’s episode of the ITV soap saw Carla Connor admit to Sarah Platt that she misses husband Peter Barlow.

Peter left Weatherfield to join a friend on his yacht on Boxing Day, after struggling with the aftermath of Stephen Reid’s death.

Despite their love for one another, Carla and Peter started to clash and at Christmas, they realised they might be better off apart.

But Carla got a surprise in tonight’s episode as Simon – Peter’s son – revealed his dad had invited him to come and join him to work on the boat.

Excited by the new adventure that awaits him, Simon enthusiastically showed Carla pictures that Peter had sent him on his phone from his travels so far.

But Carla was taken aback when she saw Peter with his arms wrapped around a mystery woman in one snap.

She later questioned Peter’s dad Ken, who admitted Peter had met someone and was happy.

Carla said she was happy for him and glad he was in a good enough position to be responsible for Simon once again when he flies out to join him.

However it was obvious that she felt wounded, and she later admitted to Sarah that while they had agreed to move on, she thought Peter might return one day if Simon was still here.

But once his son joins him, he would have little other reason to return, and that made her sad and reflective.

Later, Carla reunited with Simon on the bench outside the hairdressers, and he apologised for not telling her sooner about Peter’s new woman.

When he said he hoped she would meet someone soon, Carla replied: “Oh I’m not bothered about that, quite enjoying being on my own actually.”

But wrapping her arm around his shoulders, she added: “There is one little man I’m going to miss being in my life very much.”

Simon replied: “I’m going to miss you too, better make the most of the next two weeks ey?”

Coronation Street fans took to X to comment on Simon’s plans, with one writing: “Si’s leaving!!”

Another added: “I thought he was leaving ages ago.”

A third tweeted: “Oh Simon! Carla will be lost.”
