ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Police arrested Austin Breyette after executing a search warrant in Watervliet on Thursday at around 6:15 a.m. According to the Albany Police Department, Breyette crashed an illegal dirtbike into a UAlbany student who has still not recovered.

Breyette was arrested by Albany police, and charged with second-degree assault and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. He was also cited with several traffic violations, and he'll be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court Friday morning.

Breyette allegedly sped into Alexa Kropf, 18, on Hudson Avenue just after midnight on April 27. Kropf was treated on the scene, hospitalized, and spent time in a coma. Her recovery is still underway.

"Our message is clear—the Albany Police Department will continue to use every available resource to pursue and bring to justice anyone who decides to commit acts of violence within the city of Albany," said Albany Police Chief Eric Hawkins.
