Rare Indian banknotes from 1918 shipwreck to be auctioned in London

Rare 10-rupee banknotes salvaged from a 1918 shipwreck will be auctioned by Noonans Mayfair in London next Wednesday. Estimated to fetch GBP 2,000-2,600, these notes were recovered from the SS Shirala sunk by a German U-boat. The notes bear the date May 25 1918. Also up for auction are a 100-rupee British colonial note and a 5-rupee Reserve Bank of India note.
