Baltimore's former top prosecutor being sentenced for mortgage fraud and perjury
A former top prosecutor for the city of Baltimore is being sentenced for lying about her finances to improperly access her retirement funds during the COVID-19 pandemic. Former state's attorney Marilyn Mosby drew supporters outside the hearing and inside, where several said her crimes were victimless and claimed she was prosecuted because of her politics. Mosby drew attention for charging six officers in the death of Freddie Gray, which touched off riots in Baltimore in 2015. She was convicted of perjury and mortgage fraud. Mosby's lawyers argued for no prison time. Prosecutors recommended a 20-month sentence.
