U.S. EPA, Justice Department settle claims against Norfolk Southern for 2023 East Palestine disaster

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio — The U.S. government announced Thursday it has agreed to settle its claims against Norfolk Southern Railway Co. for the Feb. 3, 2023 disaster in East Palestine, Ohio, for $310 million.
