Hundreds in CT without power as thunderstorms sweep through state
Hundreds of residents were without power early Thursday after widespread thunderstorms swept through the state.
Eversource was reporting 2,165 outages as off 2:30 p.m. after storms drenched parts of the state.
United Illuminating by 11:25 a.m.had 1,734 customers without power. That number was down to 2 at 2:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service said the showers were likely and thunderstorms possible, mainly before 2 p.m., then a slight chance of showers.
The days was forecast to be cloudy, with a high near 81. The chance of precipitation is 70%, according to the National Weather Service.
“New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.”

AccuWeather forecast: “Mostly cloudy and warm with a couple of showers and a heavy thunderstorm; thunderstorms can bring flooding downpours, hail and damaging wind gusts.”
The largest number of power outages were in Southbury.
