A Connecticut man is facing multiple charges after attempting to flee from police in a stolen vehicle loaded with lobster traps on Wednesday in New London, state police said.

A trooper on patrol on Interstate 95 at the Gold Star Bridge spotted an unusual vehicle as it passed by his location around 11:37 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Connecticut State Police. The vehicle, a white 1999 Isuzu NPR, was reportedly loaded with yellow lobster cages.

According to state police, the vehicle, which was previously confirmed as stolen out of Narragansett, Rhode Island, fit the description of a car allegedly involved in two evading motor vehicle crashes earlier in the day within New London County.

As the trooper started to follow the vehicle, the driver exited off I-95 into New London, state police said.

The trooper radioed into Troop E and requested assistance from the New London Police Department. As New London police arrived, the trooper attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop, according to state police.

The driver, later identified as 32-year-old Lindsey Brown of New London, allegedly attempted to flee from police, which ended quickly as he crashed into a parked vehicle, state police said.

Brown allegedly ran from the vehicle and was taken into custody a short time later, according to state police. Brown was transported to Troop E in Montville where he was processed and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, interfering, engaging police in pursuit, failure to maintain proper lane, failure to obey a stop sign and evading.

The Narragansett Police Department was also advised that the reported stolen vehicle was located.

Brown was being held in lieu of a $50,000 cash-surety bond at the Corrigan Correctional Center and was scheduled to appear at New London Superior Court on Thursday.
