MCDONALD’S has run out of a popular menu item following supply chain issues leaving fans furious.

The home of the Big Mac has said some customers may struggle to get their hands on its sugar donut after stocks ran out.

The fast food chain today unveiled a new Surprize Fries game which is launching on May 29 for five weeks.

The promotion gives customers the chance to snap up millions of prizes by peeling stickers off of packs of medium or large fries.

But the game’s terms and conditions on its website reveal the sugar donut, which costs £1.99, “may be affected by supply issues”.

It’s also not available to buy on the MyMcDonald’s app.

A spokesperson confirmed it was working with suppliers to get the item back on menus “as soon as possible”.

They added: “Any Surprize Fries players that win a sugar donut will receive an apple pie instead until the issue is resolved.”

We asked McDonald’s when the sugar donut will be back in stock and when supply issues started but it declined to comment.

Fans of the sweet treat have been left gutted to hear it’s off menus for the time being.

It has come to be known as one of the “best donuts ever” on TikTok, while another on X said it “has my heart”.

Posting on X, one fast food fan recently questioned why the sugar donut wasn’t in stock and they were being offered the apple pie replacement.

Another quipped: “I’ll take my sugar donut please, sorry we have an outage of sugar donuts at the moment. Who even says that?”

It’s not the first time in recent months Maccie’s has been hit with supply chain issues.

Fast food fans were left bereft at the start of the year after finding out the Fajita chicken wrap was “unavailable” at some restaurants.

It comes with McDonald’s set to shake up its menu offering on May 29, with eight new items making their way to restaurants.

But fast food fans have been left furious after finding out one particular item is set to be axed to make way for the new ones.
