‘It breaks my heart’ says Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter as she reveals reason she’s banned from Strictly
HOLLYOAKS’ Jorgie Porter has revealed her “heartache” at being banned from taking part in Strictly Come Dancing.
The soap star, 36, is no stranger to reality shows having tackled Dancing on Ice and I’m A Celebrity, but the one she’d love to do more than any other simply isn’t an option.
In a new interview with OK!, Jorgie made the revelation while admitting there are few things she wouldn’t consider doing on the small screen.
She said: “Oh, I’d be up for anything. I’d throw myself into anything – except Naked And Afraid. No, I’d never do that show. Not for me.
“I’d love to do Strictly, but people don’t tend to do that if they’ve done Dancing On Ice. Yep, that breaks my heart.”
There is no official rule stating that ice competitors can’t have a go at the ballroom show, however, other past contestants have spun the same line about being prevented from signing with the BBC contest.
Loose Women‘s Coleen Nolan and DOI winner Jake Quickenden have both voiced their disappointment at not being allowed to do Strictly.
Jake previously said: “I’d love to do Strictly – the booker, she’s not having it, I don’t think anyone has done Dancing On Ice to Strictly, it has always been Strictly to Dancing On Ice, but they need to mix it up and get me on there.”
While Coleen said: “Since that show started, I’ve always wanted to do Strictly, and so many Loose Women have done it, but they never ever ask me.
“But it’s because apparently, I did Dancing On Ice, they don’t have anyone who’s done Dancing On Ice on Strictly.”
Mum-of-one Jorgie has no regrets at doing Dancing on Ice in 2012 though and even went back for an All Stars version of the show two years later.
The return proved short-lived as Jorgie and pro skater Sylvain Longchambon were eliminated first.
X Factor legend Ray Quinn ultimately won, beating out Emmerdale actress Hayley Tamaddon.
Not disheartened at being first out, Jorgie said: “It’s one of the hardest shows to do, but also so much fun. If you’re filming as well as doing that show it’s insane. The travel, the training… But I’m a typical Capricorn, I love a challenge and I’m not afraid of putting in the hard work.”
