CORONATION Street’s Carla Connor grows closer to a surprising character after a Peter Barlow bombshell.
Carla – played by Alison King – split from her husband at Christmas, as Peter decided to join his friend working on a yacht, and recently received a shock when she saw him with his arms around a mystery woman in a photograph.
Since then, Carla has been dealing with her nephew Bobby’s arrival and Roy Cropper’s wrongful arrest for the disappearance and alleged murder of Lauren Bolton.
However, Roy has cut Carla off after he learned that she had covered for Bobby when he gave a false statement to the police in a failed attempt to try and help free the cafe owner.
Carla has had a number of scenes with DS Lisa Swain during the course of Roy’s arrest and imprisonment.
And in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, the two women grow closer as the policewoman opens up to the factory owner.
Nina informs Carla and Bobby that Roy will soon have a date for his trial, and DS Swain asks Carla why she’s fallen out with him.
Carla shuts the conversation down, but later, she overhears Lisa rowing with her daughter on the phone.
Carla offers an ear and Lisa explains her partner died and her daughter is struggling with her grief.
Later, DS Swain visits Roy in prison and asks him outright if his fallout with Carla has anything to do with Bobby’s statement.
It leads to the detective arresting Bobby on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
Swain also warns Carla that Bobby’s lies aren’t helping anyone, least of all Roy.
But despite Bobby’s arrest, Carla offers Swain’s daughter some work experience at the factory.
How will things develop between the two women?
Coronation Street fans have been speculating they will embark on a shock romance for weeks now.
