Kourtney Kardashian Reveals What Led to Emergency Fetal Surgery for Baby Rocky

Kourtney Kardashian is sharing new details on her emergency fetal surgery.

Back in September 2023, the 45-year-old reality star underwent emergency surgery while pregnant with her and husband Travis Barker‘s son Rocky, who was born in November.

During the season five premiere of The Kardashians on Thursday (May 23), Kourtney shared new details on what led to the surgery.

Keep reading to find out more…“We had planned a scan at home, so that all the kids could see the baby,” Kourtney recalled. “The doctor who will come to the house to do the scan is a high-risk doctor, who’s really detailed and thorough at looking for everything. And something caught his eye where he wanted me to see a couple specialists.”

Following her appointments, Kourtney learned that she needed to go in for an operation on the baby the next morning, which she says was “terrifying” and “stressful.”

While Kourtney didn’t specify what concerned the doctors in the baby’s scan, she noted that it happened quickly.

“The timing of it was miraculous. That saved everything,” Kourntey explained. “My doctor’s like, ‘There’s nothing that you did wrong. It’s not age-related. It’s just a super rare thing that happened.’”

At the time of the surgery, Travis, 48, was on tour in Europe, so mom Kris Jenner took Kourtney to the hospital while Travis flew home.

“The thing that was awful was his WiFi was broken on the plane,” Kourtney shared. “I was sending him updates and my mom was sending him updates. He couldn’t get anything and he kept checking, like every two hours on the plane, ‘Can you reset the WiFi?’”

By the time Travis landed, Kourtney had already underwent the procedure because “they had to do it right away.”

After the surgery was successful and baby Rocky was ok, Kourtney said that she was finally process the scary situation.

“There’s some superpower that I have—that in emergency situations, I get really calm,” Kourtney said. “And then right when we left, I was like, ‘OK, I can take a deep breath. I could cry. I could get it out.’”

For the remaining two months of her pregnancy, Kourtney has laid low and remained mostly on bed rest.

“There’s a hole in the amniotic sac from where they had to go into the surgery,” Kourtney explained. “So, I’m not allowed to drive. I’m not allowed to stand for more than 20 minutes. I’m really not leaving the house.”

While the fetal surgery was “trauma” for the couple, Kourtney said that she and Travis always stayed hopeful about their baby boy.

“I just feel so grateful that how everything played out and for the doctors that really helped make the best decisions that really saved our baby,” Kourtney shared. “After this happened, I was like, ‘God’s got this. We’re good. This is a miracle and we’re just going to be super positive.’”

Last month, Travis shared some very rare photos of baby Rocky!
