Coeymans man arrested for alleged January 6 involvement

According to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, a Coeymans man was arrested for his alleged involvement in the January 6, 2021 insurrection.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- According to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, a Coeymans man was arrested for his alleged involvement in the January 6, 2021 insurrection. The Federal Bureau of Investigation in Albany says it received and investigated a tip about Francis Joseph Vitollo's involvement, which led to his arrest.

Charges

  • Entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds
  • Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds
  • Disorderly conduct in a Capitol Building or grounds
  • Parading, picketing, and demonstrating in a Capitol Building

FBI Albany says its investigation revealed that video footage and images showed Vitollo walking toward the U.S. Capitol, standing and walking on restricted grounds outside of the Capitol building, and walking, sitting down, and appearing to use his phone inside of the Capitol building. He allegedly entered the building at approximately 2:43 p.m. as a part of the insurrection.

The court documents and an arrest warrant were filed on May 10 following the discovery of this evidence. He was then arrested in Albany on May 15.
