Watervliet man pleads guilty to unlicensed gun dealing

The U.S. Attorney's Office announced that a Watervliet man has pleaded guilty to dealing multiple firearms without a license.

WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The U.S. Attorney's Office announced that a Watervliet man has pleaded guilty to dealing multiple firearms without a license. Sean Patrick, 45, faces a maximum of five years in prison when he is sentenced.

Patrick admitted to building and selling four semi-automatic handguns with no serial numbers between 2021 and 2022 without having the proper licensing or paperwork, and without paying taxes on the sales. Federal agents executed a search warrant at Patrick's home in Watervliet on November 10, 2022.

During the search, agents located four more privately made non-serialized pistols, a semi-automatic pistol with an obliterated serial number, fabrication tools, gun kits and over one thousand rounds of ammunition. The case was investigated by the FBI's Capital District Safe Streets Gang Task Force.

Patrick's sentencing is scheduled for September 19. He will also face a fine of up to $250,000 and a post-release term of supervision of up to three years.
