Criticism of Alsobrooks takes a condescending tone | READER COMMENTARY

Letter writer sees U.S. Senate candidate in terms of gender and race so news coverage may not be to his liking.

The No. 1 reason for my voting in the Maryland primary was to vote for Angela Alsobrooks. I have not read any “puff pieces” regarding Prince George’s County Executive Alsobrooks as claimed by letter writer Robert C. Erlandson, who describes the U.S. Senate candidate as a Black female Democrat (“Sun editorial takes a pro-Alsobrooks slant,” May 21).

Apparently, Erlandson has singled out Alsobrooks by gender and race. We are now in the third decade of the 21st century where one is surprised by this condescending attitude.

I am glad that Erlandson will continue to read The Baltimore Sun for its sports coverage which will keep his life simple. I will continue to read the most of The Sun ‘s other sections and am looking forward to the reporting of Alsobrooks’ victory in November. There appears to be no real cure for sour grapes.
