ISPR: Surge in terrorist incidents from Afghanistan soil targeting Pakistan

0

The Pakistani army claims that the country is witnessing an increase in terrorist incidents originating from Afghanistan soil.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the army wrote, “Afghan terrorists attempt to infiltrate through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and target security forces and innocent civilians.”

According to a press release from the Pakistani army’s public relations department published today, operations were conducted by Pakistani security forces from the 21st to the 24th of April in the Sambaza area of the Zhob district in Balochistan province, resulting in the killing of 29 insurgents.

“In this context, in addition to other areas along Pakistan-Afghanistan border, security forces are conducting operations in general area Sambaza in Zhob District of Balochistan, since April 21, 24,” the ISPR said.

A section of this statement mentions that a Pakistani military official named Babar Khan was killed during the operations of Pakistani forces on May 15th.

The Pakistani army states that the authorities of this country have repeatedly urged the Taliban to manage their borders.

The Pakistani government has previously accused the Afghan Taliban of providing refuge to Pakistani Taliban militants on Afghan soil.

Meanwhile, Pakistani officials have also alleged that the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is receiving support from Kabul, and attacks against officials have escalated since the Taliban assumed power in Afghanistan.

According to Pakistani authorities, the increase in attacks targeting officials is directly linked to the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, implying that the group’s ascension to power has emboldened and enabled militant activities, including those perpetrated by the TTP.

Taliban officials have consistently denied these allegations, stating that they do not allow any group to threaten the security of regional countries from Afghan soil.
