I’m shaking after thrifting a $420 pot for $3.99 – the enamel is chipped but people say I can get a new one for free
DON’T be deterred by a little damage on items from one high-end kitchenware brand, regardless of where you find them.
A savvy shopper was thrilled with the pricey pot they had thrifted, but an even better bargain may be yet to come.
Reddit user Top-lavishness871 was in disbelief over the deal.
“I’m shaking,” they said.
And it wasn’t hard to see why.
The shopper had snagged a Le Creuset buy for just $3.99.
“My first Dutch Oven,” they said.
There was no question that they had been blessed with a bargain.

The cooking item is described as featuring enameled cast iron for efficient heat distribution and retention.
Their tight-fitting lids are designed to return moisture back to food, while their ergonomic knobs make for easy lifting.
It might have required a bit of cleaning, but with that kind of savings, they were up for the scrubbing challenge.
“Inside grime is just on top, nothing deep,” they said.
“Pink stuff will bring it right out,” they continued.
A little damage was no big deal anyway because the brand offers replacement pieces at no cost.
“Their warranty is no joke. I dropped my Dutch oven and they replaced it free of charge,” said one user.
And they didn’t seem to discriminate against thrifted pots.
“I just got a Le Creuset from the store and the pamphlet says inside that they have a lifetime warranty no matter where you get it. I would definitely call them,” said another Reddit reader.
“Bought a 20-plus-year-old Le Creuset on Facebook and quickly realized the bottom enamel had been compromised,” said one user.
“So, I filed a claim on their website, including photos. A rep replied within a few days and said that although the damage was from user error, they would replace the oven as a one-time courtesy.
“I did not pay for shipping. It was a very smooth process.”
Others shared their own at-home cleaning tips.
“I’ve had lots of luck boiling water with baking soda to lift scorched crud from the bottom of pots. Congrats on the score,” said one reader.
“Yes, I second this. Always start with the least invasive/abrasive option and work your way up,” wrote another user.
The Redditor showed off their results.
“That worked pretty darn well. Under the crud, it does appear there is a slight chip in the enamel,” they replied.
