‘Next year’ – Postecoglou gives perfect post-season response to Spurs fan
Ange Postecoglou was captured on video promising to a Tottenham fan in Melbourne that the team will be better next season.
Tottenham had a disappointing end to the campaign, being pipped by Aston Villa to fourth place and missing out on Champions League qualification.
Although the results were quite poor in the final couple of months of the season, all things considered, one has to say that Postecoglou’s first year in charge was relatively successful, given the state of the club when he took over.
The Australian arrived during a tumultuous time at Hotspur Way after the Antonio Conte experiment had backfired and the team had slipped to an eight-place finish in 2022-23.
To make matters worse, Spurs also lost their record goalscorer, Harry Kane, a day before their Premier League campaign kicked off and following the England captain’s departure, some pundits suggested that the Lilywhites might even struggle to finish in the top half of the table (Sky Sports).
Postecoglou promises Spurs improvements next season
However, Postecoglou is certainly not resting on his laurels and has set his sights on bigger and better things next season.
When one Spurs fan in Melbourne thanked the Tottenham boss for his efforts this season, the 58-year-old responded (via talkSPORT): “Thank you, we’ll be better next year.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Despite Tottenham’s poor results over recent months, there is clearly plenty of belief in the Spurs changing room in Postecoglou’s methods, with the likes of Son making it clear that the Australian is the right man to get the club challenging for major honours.
