Bargain supermarket slashes price of ‘perfect’ Aperol dupe for the bank holiday – and it’s 70% cheaper than the real one
A BARGAIN supermarket has slashed the price of its Aperol dupe just in time for the bank holiday.
Aldi is stocking 70cl bottles of its Aperini Superiore for £5 instead of £6.49 ahead of the weekend.
It’s 70% cheaper than the branded stuff too – a 70cl bottle of Aperol Aperitivo costs £17 at Sainsbury’s.
But you’ll have to be quick because Aldi is only dropped the price of the Aperol dupe for six days, with the deal running until May 26.
The retailer has also cut the price on its bestselling Costellore Prosecco Spumante DOC to £4.75 from £5.75 too.
And discount hunters can get three bottles of wine for up to 50% off until May 26.
Of course, always remember when buying anything like this, to shop around to get the best deal.
Just because Aldi has slashed the price of its Aperol dupe, that doesn’t mean you can’t one cheaper at another retailer.
The trolley.co.uk website is really useful for comparing prices on supermarket products.
The Google Shopping/Product tab is useful for a quick scan of the internet too.
On this occasion, we couldn’t find any retailers selling their own-brand version beyond Aldi though.
It comes after Aldi announced a fan favourite crisp would make a welcome return to shelves.
The discounter, which currently runs over 1,000 branches across the UK, brought back its garlic bread flavour crinkle cut crisps this week.
Shoppers were also left scrambling to snap up a nostalgic £1.89 sweet treat hitting shelves earlier this month too.
The budget chain started stocking Gianni’s Mini Viennese Vanilla Ice Creams in stores and online, and customers couldn’t get enough.
Posting on X, one shopper said she would “sell her soul” for the ice creams after initially struggling to find them.
When's the best time to shop at Aldi?
WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy.
For reduced items – when shops open
Red sticker items are rare at Aldi’s 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says that none of its food goes to waste so there are some to be found – if you’re quick.
A spokesman for the supermarket said: “All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommended sales price before stores open on their best-before or use-by dates.”
That means you have the best chance of finding reduced food items if you go into stores as soon as they open.
Opening times vary by shop but a majority open from 7am or 8am. You can find your nearest store’s times by using the supermarket’s online shop finder tool.
For Specialbuys – Thursdays and Sundays
Specialbuys are Aldi’s weekly collection of items that it doesn’t normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools.
New stock comes into stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally, these are the best days to visit for the best one-off special deals.
For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head there for your local store’s opening time.
You don’t have to head into stores to bag a Specialbuy, though.
They also go on sale online, usually at midnight on Thursday and Sunday, and you can pre-order them up to a week in advance.
As long as you spend at least £25, you’ll get the items delivered for free.
Remember: once they’re gone, they’re gone, so if there’s something you really want, visit as early as possible
And pet lovers were left proclaiming “I need some” after Aldi confirmed its Doggy Ice Cream would return to shelves earlier this month.
How to save money at Aldi
It’s worth keeping an eye out for any red sticker products, which staff add to items when they’ve been reduced in price.
Aldi tends to add them to items in the morning so it’s best to get in there early if you want to get the best discounts.
Keep an eye out for slashed-price fruits and vegetables as well – the retailer tends to reduce six items every two weeks to “silly low” prices, according to deals expert Tom Church.
Get ahead of the crowd by signing up to Aldi’s newsletter and following the retailer on social media as well.
It often announces upcoming deals via the two channels so you can snap up the best prices before anyone else.
And of course, take advantage of Aldi’s cheap alcohol which could save you some cash compared to going with branded versions.
