School bus aide charged with sex abuse
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Orange County school bus aide was arrested and is accused of sexually abusing a victim under 9. Nicola Loguerico, 76, was charged with first-degree sex abuse.
According to New York State Police, on Thursday, May 16, they received a tip from a Minisink Valley Central School District Administrator of an incident involving Loguerico, a school bus aid. The incident involved him and a victim under 9 that lasted over the course of a week.
Loguerico was arrested on Monday and was remanded to the Orange County Jail on $5,000 cash bail and $10,000 bond. He is set to reappear in the Town of Wawayanda Court on Thursday.
The Minisink Valley Central School District released the following statement:
"To be as transparent as possible, we wish to advise you of the May 20 arrest of a Transportation Department bus monitor.
The district received the complaint on May 16. Immediately, the district notified law enforcement, which launched its own immediate investigation, in conjunction with the district, on that same date. This individual was placed on administrative leave as soon as the district received the complaint.
Because of this rapid and sensitive nature of this investigation, we were not able to share any details until now.
This alleged incident is now under the jurisdiction of the New York State Police. Because of strict FERPA guidelines and other laws governing confidentiality, we cannot and will not discuss any details of this investigation or the parties involved at this time.
