Schenectady County to host free Naloxone training
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Schenectady County Public Health Services (SCPHS) will host a free Naloxone, also known as Narcan, training and information session on Thursday. It will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the McChesney Room at the Hon. Karen B. Johnson Library at 99 Clinton Street in Schenectady.
The session will provide education on how to recognize the signs of overdose, preventative measures, and the administration of Naloxone. This training will equip attendees with life-saving techniques and give them the resources essential to combating opioid-related emergencies.
Those who attend will receive a free Naloxone kit with fentanyl and xylazine test strips after completing the training. Those who are interested but cannot attend the event can access an online version of the training on the Schenectady County website and there are free Naloxone kits available from SCPHS for those who complete the online training.
