‘It’s just ridiculous’ moan EastEnders fans as they spot blunder with Whitney’s wedding ahead of Shona McGarty’s exit
EASTENDERS fans have slammed the show after a ‘glaring error’ involving Whitney Dean’s wedding dress.
The BBC soap has been gearing up to say goodbye to Whitney (played by Shona McGarty), but naturally her last few episodes are anything but quiet.
After giving birth to baby Dolly last week, Whitney was seen going down the aisle to marry Zack Hudson (James Farrar).
But the wedding went spectacularly off the rails when their foster daughter, Britney, revealed he had cheated on her with best mate Lauren Branning.
She later got into a full on brawl with her former bestie over the betrayal, and on Tuesday’s episode she told Zack that they were over, before deciding to leave Walford for good with Britney and baby Dolly.
While fans branded the exit ‘boring’ for EastEnders standards, a new video posted on the soap’s social has shed light on another issue that rubbed fans the wrong way.
The sped-up clip follows actress Shona as she got into Whitney’s huge wedding dress – complete with beehive hairdo covered in diamonds.
But fans thought it was “unrealistic” considering she had given birth just days before the big day.
“Love Eastenders, but seriously – who wrote this storyline?” wrote one fan.
“Getting married in a big white dress a couple of days after giving birth – could only have been written by a man!!”
“She looks just Fabulous ( i know it’s not real ) would a new mum really want to get wed like this a day after giving birth?” said a second.
While others took aim at the hair and said: “Looks like a bee hive on her head ..didn’t like it at all it was much nicer loose and straight”
Ever since she arrived in Walford in 2008, Whitney – the adopted daughter of Bianca Jackson (played by Patsy Palmer) – has been at the heart of countless hard-hitting story lines, including grooming, sexual abuse, baby loss, kidnap, stalking and illicit affairs.
Actress Shona announced she was leaving EastEnders last year, explaining she wanted to explore other roles in the future.
“It was a really difficult decision, because it’s all I’ve ever known. I pretty much grew up on the Square, so I feel like I’m leaving home,” she told Fabulous in an exclusive interview.
“But I had to put on my big girl pants and be quite brave, because life is so short, and you feel that more and more as you get older.
“I mean, 16 years is amazing. I’ve had a really good run and Whitney needs a break. She’s had a pretty tough paper round.”
