Lidl unveils new containers to help water bees following massive decline in populations

0

THIS miniature six pack of ‘bee-ers’ has been launched – containing sugar syrup to revive weary bumble bees.

The tiny bottles have been created by Lidl, specifically designed to revive sleepy and fading wild bees as well as other pollinators, to give them a pick-me-up.

Lidl has unveiled a new six pack of containers to help water bees

The first-of-its-kind adorable six pack aims to empower Brits to help bees when they see one in need of a cooling drink on the go.

The campaign comes when both urban and rural areas experience a decline in flowers and greenery to fuel them.

According to the WWF x Bug Life report of 2023, 40% of bee species in the UK are undergoing “dramatic rates of decline”.

Greg Bool, chairman of The British Bee Charity, which has partnered with Lidl, and is giving away the 2cm tall “bee-rs” via its site, said: “So much of our flora, fauna and food depends on pollinators.

“We’re hugely excited to partner with Lidl to give bees and other pollinators the spotlight and support they need.

“The bee-rs campaign is a great opportunity for nature lovers to give local biodiversity a little helping hand, and Lidl’s donation will support funding thousands of pupils getting out and about in nature and learning about the precious ecosystems around them.”

To support the efforts of The British Bee Charity, Lidl is also donating £10,000 – dedicated to supporting bee conservation efforts and raising awareness of pollinator health.

The money will be used to educate children in schools up and down the UK and help the next generation to understand the importance of protecting precious pollinators.

In celebration of World Bee Day, which was on Monday, the supermarket chain will also be stocking honey-based drinks in stores across the country.

Additionally, bee-friendly plants like French Lavender, Garden Hydrangea, Large Hanging Planters, and Alstroemeria will be sold in Lidl stores nationwide.

How to save money at Lidl

You can make some big savings at Lidl by employing the right tricks.

It’s worth starting by downloading the Lidl Plus app, which offers customers deals and freebies on a weekly basis.

Browse the middle aisle too where you can snap up plenty of bargains, from DIY tools to clothes.

Next, make sure you snap up yellow sticker bargains – workers put these on products to show they’ve been reduced in price.

THERE are plenty of ways to save on your grocery shop.

You can look out for yellow or red stickers on products, which show when they’ve been reduced.

If the food is fresh, you’ll have to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.

Making a list should also save you money, as you’ll be less likely to make any rash purchases when you get to the supermarket.

Going own brand can be one easy way to save hundreds of pounds a year on your food bills too.

This means ditching “finest” or “luxury” products and instead going for “own” or value” type of lines.

Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they’re misshapen or imperfect.

For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.

If you’re on a low income and a parent, you may be able to get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers to use at the supermarket too.

Plus, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.

And fourth, check out Lidl’s weekly food offers, when it slashes the price of fresh fruit and veg.
