And the best part of all? You just need three ingredients.

In a clip shared to TikTok (@hayley_homeedmumof2), Hayley reveals her simple hack that makes washing easier and cheaper, because you can buy the ingredients in bulk.

Not only that, but she claims that one of the ingredients will also help to clean your hardened water better, meaning it’ll give you even cleaner washing.

So, just what does the DIY mixture entail?

You can make loads and it saves you buying it all in the shops every week

The mum-of-two explains that first up, you’ll need citric acid.

“The citric acid is what’s going to clean your water and un-harden that water, so it’s going to make your washing a lot cleaner,” she says.

Next, she advises mixing this with bicarbonate soda in equal measures, before adding in a drop of essence, which you can buy in bulk for around £10 from the likes of Amazon or eBay.

“You can make loads and it saves you buying it all in the shops every week,” she adds.

Once the mixture is complete, she explains that she pops it into an air-tight storage container and using half a cup in each wash.

The clip has since gone viral, garnering a whopping 110k views and several comments from very impressed social media users.

“Love this!” praised one.

A second suggested: “You can put this in your kitchen sink plug hole and bathroom and toilet too.

“I do the same, take out the citric acid and you can use it as carpet freshener/mattress freshener too (or add the oil to perfumers alcohol and make room sprays) but you probably already know all of this.

“It’s amazing and so much cheaper isn’t it?”

Hayley replied: “Yes 100% I use it for loads of things.”

Meanwhile, a further noted: “Love making home made stuff…soda crystals is my staple.”
