Colonie girls lax advances past Shaker to Class A title game

COLONIE, NY (NEWS10) -- Colonie played host to a rivalry matchup in the semifinals of the Class A girls lacrosse sectional semifinals. The two-seed Raiders welcomed in the three-seed, Shaker.

The Raiders jumped out to the early lead, but the Blue Bison tied it up at four in the second quarter. Colonie rattled off two goals before the end of the first half, taking a 6-4 lead into the half.

Shaker responded quickly in the second half, tallying two quick goals to tie the game at six. The Raiders retook a 7-6 lead on a rebound goal by Avery Connelly before a weather delay. Colonie held on to advance with a 9-8 win.

The Raiders will take on top-seeded Saratoga Springs for the section title on Tuesday at Schuylerville High School at 7:00 p.m.
