Line Ups: Tottenham v Newcastle – Ange picks strong side
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has named his side which will take to the field in today’s post-season friendly against Newcastle United in Australia.
The fixture takes place at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground as both sides look to bring down the curtain on their respective 2023/24 campaigns.
Postecoglou selected a pretty strong 24-man squad to make the journey down under just a matter of hours after they had wrapped up their Premier League season with a 3-0 win at Sheffield United on Sunday.
Cristian Romero is in Argentina for personal reasons, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg misses out after an injury issue sustained at Bramall Lane.
Richarlison, Destiny Udogie, Manor Solomon, Timo Werner, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Giovani Lo Celso, Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon have all not travelled due to their own respective injury problems.
Mikey Moore has also not made the journey due to his involvement with the England U17s having appeared as a late sub in each of Tottenham’s final league matches.
Newcastle sealed seventh place in the table after easing past Brentford on the final day, while Spurs secured a return to European football in the Europa League as a result of finishing fifth.
