Mariners Game #49 Preview, 5/21/24: SEA @ NYY
Game two of four in da Bronx!
While it might be hard to top the thrilling conclusion of last night’s 5-4 victory, the Mariners will look to take the second game of the four-game set and ensure a series split in the middle leg of this tough road trip.

The return of J.P. Crawford atop Seattle’s lineup is more than a welcome sight to behold, and between you and me, this is one of my favorite lineups the M’s have rolled out all season. Bryan Woo will look to build off a strong performance against the Royals in Seattle, but finding a way to get the Yankees’ potent lefty bats out and away from that short porch in right field will be paramount.
The Yanks are rolling out Clarke Schmidt on the mound, and the 28-year-old righty has been off to a fabulous start to the season after a middling 2023. Schmidt is currently rocking a scoreless streak of 15.2 innings, and is coming off eight shutout innings against the Twins. Here’s hoping the Mariners’ revamped lineup can get to him early.
