OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma City Police are investigating a shooting on NW 10th near Rockwell that killed a man Tuesday afternoon.

Officers said they received a call about a shooting around 1 p.m. on Tuesday. MSgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department said when officers arrived they found a man in the middle of the road.

Officers then started performing CPR before the man died.

“There was a lot of noise. Then I see police cars and there was yellow tape,” said Alejandro Martinez, who worked next door.

Crime scene investigators were called to the scene to gather information as officers interviewed witnesses and workers at area businesses.

“We are in the very preliminary stages of this investigation,” said Knight.

Family and friends could be seen arriving to the site of the shooting, very emotional and upset after finding out what happened.

Hope Community Center, across the street from the scene, went into lock down while police searched for the shooter.

“Right now we don’t have a description of the suspect,” said Knight.

Officers said the shooter ran from the scene and they were still searching to location the person who pulled the trigger.

“This is a middle of the day shooting, lots of traffic out here, a major thoroughfare, so we believe that there are people out here who may have seen this happen,” said Knight.

If you witnessed the shooting, call Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.
