'On the trail': Man Utd want to sign versatile & two-footed 24-year-old star - report

0

Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso this summer, according to Italian outlet Tuttojuve.

The Red Devils are likely to make multiple changes to the squad this summer and most of the focus could be on the defensive department.

A marquee centre-back could be signed with Raphael Varane set to leave on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, the club are likely to recruit a new left-back with the injury concerns of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in the current season.

A right-back could also be signed with the uncertain future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. He could be sold with his contract expiring in 2025.

Tuttojuve now report that Aston Villa are not interested in Cambiaso and it is United who are ‘on the trail’ to sign the former Genoa star.

However, the Bianconeri are not considering a sale at the moment. They consider him ‘untransferable’ ahead of the transfer window.

The Turin giants plan to open talks with the Italy international over a new long-term deal.

United should tempt Juventus with swap deal

United could reinforce their full-back department during the off-season. Cambiaso appears a good fit with his ability to play at right-back or left-back.

The 24-year-old had a passing accuracy of 88 per cent in Serie A last term. He largely played as a wing-back for most of the season, registering three goals and six assists.

His attacking attributes would suit the playing style under manager Erik ten Hag. However, it appears the Bianconeri are reluctant to lose him on the back of a fine campaign.

In our view, the Red Devils should tempt the Bianconeri with a swap deal for Cambiaso.

The Serie A heavyweights have an interest in signing Mason Greenwood. United’s hierarchy should propose a straight-exchange deal with Cambiaso moving the other way.

This would be beneficial for United, who could have a pre-sales budget of only £35 million this summer, considering they won’t be playing in the Champions League next season.
