Tottenham have been handed a blow in their rumoured pursuit of Ferdi Kadioglou, with journalist Sacha Tavolielri now reporting that the Galatasaray star is now in talks with Arsenal regarding a summer transfer.

It has been widely reported over recent months that Tottenham are keen to strengthen at full-back, with Kadioglu thought to be one of the names on Spurs’ radar.

Although the 24-year-old is right-footed, he plays more often as a left-back, being able to play on both sides of the pitch or even as a number six.

In fact, HITC claimed back in March that the Turk’s ability to feature in either full-back role is the main reason why Ange Postecoglou wants him, with the Tottenham boss wanting someone who can cover for both Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro.

The report further pointed out that Kadioglou began his career as an attacking midfielder and with Postecoglou wanting his full-backs to occupy the number ten roles when his side has possession, the player is seen as someone who can easily adapt to the role.

However, it now turns out that Tottenham may have to compete with their North London rivals for the Galatasaray star’s signature.

Tavolielri has now taken to social media to indicate that the Gunners are in pole position to Kadioglou, having already begun talks with the Turkey international’s representatives regarding a switch to the Emirates.

Tottenham’s interest in Tavolielri and Kyle Walker-Peters proves beyond doubt that the club are on the lookout for a versatile full-back who can operate in either flank.

That allied with the fact that Van de Ven has shown that he can do a decent job at left-back likely signals that Ben Davies would also follow Emerson Royal out of the door this summer.
