INDIANAPOLIS — Meleek Thomas, the No. 6 player in the class of 2025, will look to take visits in June, he said after posting 15 points in front of Lebron James and Carmelo Anthony during the New Heights Lightning’s 71-68 win over Strive for Greatness.
“[I’m showing] my athleticism and my body getting stronger at a fast rate,” he said after the first Nike EYBL Live Period on Friday. “I feel like my passing skills are really underrated and some of the best in the country, and I want to continue scoring the ball.”
The 6-foot-3 shooting guard wants to take visits to Arkansas, Miami and UConn, among others on his top 12 list that includes Auburn, Kentucky, Duke, Indiana, Kansas State, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Villanova.
Thomas plans to start visits in June but wants to ease into the process and see nearly every school in his top 12.
“I want to take a few visits during June,” he said. “And then, maybe September, but I want to go slowly, let God tell me when to take all my visits, and ease into it.”
Dan Hurley (UConn), Nate Oats (Alabama), Jon Scheyer (Duke), John Calipari (Arkansas), Mark Pope (Kentucky) and Jim Larrañega (Miami) were all in attendance during Saturday’s 73-61 win over Strive for Greatness. Thomas had 18 points.
He broke down some of his options:
UConn: “Coach [Dan] Hurley is a world-renowned name. He’s in the building, and I can’t let up with that kind of coach; there’s no breaks, no time off, and I’m just keeping my foot on the gas.”
Arkansas: “His contact and communication with me throughout the whole process has been amazing. He doesn’t take any days off, we communicate a lot and he wants me to know Arkansas could be home.”
Alabama: “They always let me know that I’m their caliber guy and Alabama could be home, they want to get me on a visit.”
Kentucky: “They haven’t reoffered but I’ve heard from them, for sure.”
Duke: “It’s a little bit slowed down. They’ve got their own stuff going on, but I always know there’s love from them. Jon Scheyer is a great guy and the coaching staff is great.”
