Fire depts., Red Cross respond to Burnt Hills fire
BURNT HILLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Burnt Hills Fire Department along with Ballston Lake, Malta Ridge, Round Lake, Jonesville, and Glenville Fire Departments responded to a structure fire on Lakehill Road in Burnt Hills on Friday night. According to Burnt Hills Fire Chief Greg Bradtke, crews responded at 10:21 p.m. and did not get the fire under control until approximately 1 a.m.
Chief Bradtke reported that it took another three hours after the fire was under control to seek out hot spots and extinguish the fire completely. He also says that all residents exited the building sustaining no injuries and two cats were rescued from the fire.
NEWS10's crews on the scene also witnessed other animals that were rescued as well. It is unconfirmed what types of animals and how many.
The American Red Cross announced that it aided the residents affected by the fire by providing financial assistance for shelter, food, and clothing. The power was disrupted for the nearby residents for several hours during the fire but was restored around 3 a.m. on Saturday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Fire Chief was unable to report on the salvageability of the home at this time.
