Football.London’s Alasdair Gold travelled to Sweden to scout Lucas Bergvall on Thursday and the journalist was left mightily impressed with what the midfielder produced.

There is plenty of excitement at Spurs about Bergvall’s impending arrival this summer, with the teenager being thought of by many as one of the best young talents to have emerged out of Swedish football over recent years.

While there is still a major question mark over how he will adapt to the Premier League, the teenager continues to turn in jaw-dropping displays in the Allsvenskan, producing another fine performance to help Djurgarden emerge 5-0 winners over Brommapojkarna on Thursday.

Alasdair Gold’s scouting report on Lucas Bergvall

Alasdair Gold, who travelled to the western suburbs of Stockholm to watch the Tottenham man in action on Thursday, was left quite excited by some of the moments he produced.

The journalist revealed that the youngster was playing as the most advanced of the midfield trio for Djurgarden but was given the freedom to drop deeper into a number six role to receive the ball and even drift out wide.

Gold revealed that the Sweden international showed ‘some lovely close control’ throughout the first half, hanging on the possession with ease despite being under pressure.

Surprisingly, he said that the midfielder also showed impressive strength by using his body to protect the ball despite his relatively slight frame.

Gold added that the Tottenham man made decisive contributions in the final third during the second period, starting the move that led to the away side’s second goal with a run down the left before picking up the assist for their third with a perfect through ball for striker Deniz Hummet

Based on this scouting report by Gold, it appears as if Bergvall is quite a complete footballer and does not have too many obvious weaknesses.

However, the Premier League would be a huge step up in intensity and quality for the teenager, who would require time to get up to speed.

It would not surprise me if he hardly plays next season and is potentially sent on loan for the second half of the campaign. We might not see Bergvall regularly in a Spurs shirt until the 2025-26 campaign.
