KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One Clay County man is suing Hereford House in Leawood weeks after a former employee posted videos online contaminating food.

Jace Christian Hanson was taken into custody and charged on April 25, after a tip was sent from an FBI special agent to the Leawood Police Department regarding Hanson contaminating the food.

Hanson started working at Hereford House in March, with all incidents occurring from March 26-April 25.

According to court documents, the man suing Hereford House ate lunch there on April 3, around midday.

Following his lunch, the plaintiff alleged that he began to feel ill with body aches, fever and vomiting overnight into the next day. The document states the symptoms of the plaintiff's illness were consistent to that of food poisoning.

The document also states the plaintiff state he was unable to work on April 4 because of his illness. He has also suffered from additional emotional and psychological distress after becoming aware of the contamination.

He also continues to experience anxiety and distress, including fear of illness or medical harm, as a result of his ingestion of contaminated food at Hereford House.

According to the documents, Hereford House owed him and other customers a duty of reasonable care in the hiring, training, retention and supervision of its employees and the maintenance of its kitchen and that they breached that duty of care in multiple ways.

The plaintiff asked to be rewarded based on him suffering injury and damages including pain, suffering, emotional distress, anxiety, loss of income, financial expense and other damages.

Customers can make a report to the Leawood Police Department if they ate at Hereford House from March 26-April 25.
