TOP Boy star Jasmine Jobson has just bagged a major award for her killer role as Jaq and teased that a spin-off of the hit Netflix show could be in the works.

The 29-year-old stole the show at the BAFTA film awards last weekend, winning the trophy for Best Supporting Actress for her stand out performance as Jaq Lawrence in Top Boy’s final season

Top Boy also beat favourites to win Happy Valley and The Crown for Best Drama on the night.

It wasn’t just awards that got people talking, but the reveal that she was not yet done with playing Jaq.

Speaking at the BAFTA winners’ press conference, Jasmine revealed to press her desire to be part of a Top Boy spin-off series starring her character.

The TV star said: “Netflix haven’t come to me. All I will say is if Netflix are on it I’m definitely down.

“I was struggling to let go of Jaq, so if they want to bring it back, let’s do it.

“Ain’t no way I’m going to be playing a lighter character anytime soon.”

Speaking on her breakout role, she added: “It’s been a job that has changed my life.”

Back in January, Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett revealed that he was in talks with the streaming platform over a potential new show.

Speaking to BBC’s Radio 5 Live host Nihal Arthanayake, Ronan said the spin-off “will be around Jaq” if produced, adding that Netflix will “probably be angry” with him for mentioning it.

“I’ve learned through bitter experience not to talk too much about shows that are in the future, you just never know if they’re going to get made,” he continued.

Top Boy made it’s debut on Channel 4 in 2011 before being picked up by Netflix in 2019 following interest from US rapper Drake, who sits as an executive producer on the new grittier version of the show.

The fifth and final season of the show aired in 2023, leaving fans on the edge of their seats after a jaw-dropping cliffhanger, sparking excitement for a potential spin-off to continue the drama.
