A MAN who thought he won big on the Postcode Lottery was waiting for someone to knock on his door with a cheque – but he made a stupid error.

The anonymous player received a winning email from the lotto draw which costs £12-a-month to be a part of.

The winner misread the email and only won £10

Instantly assuming he’d bagged £100,000, the man excitedly waited for the reps in red jackets to be on his doorstep.

However, a silly mistake of not reading the email properly landed him in a very disappointing situation.

The email title “good news about your People’s Postcode Lottery ticket” informed him the windfall he thought he was about to get his hands on, was only £10.

Posting a screenshot of the email online, the man said: “No one came ‘knocking a my door’, just an email.”

It comes after one Australian, dubbed the unluckiest lotto player, went to bed thinking he’d won £20million.

Rob Brodie missed out on the life-changing sum thanks to one small agonising detail.

The dad, 57, was sure he’d bagged the top prize in March 2020.

After checking the numbers more closely, he realised he was just a digit away from splitting the huge £40 million prize with one other winner.

Brodie bagged six out of the seven Powerball numbers, and got a 12 where he needed an 11 in the last slot.

The world’s “unluckiest” lotto winner managed to take home just under £8,000.

And one young couple missed out on the £182million Euromillions jackpot  when they realised their winning ticket payment hadn’t gone through.

Rachel Kennedy, 19, and Liam McCrohan, 21, from Hertfordshire, were “absolutely heartbroken” when they realised their usual numbers had come up, but they had won nothing.

Rachel’s account was set up to automatically buy a Euromillions ticket with her usual numbers.

But because her account didn’t have the right funds, the ticket payment failed.
