The Fortune Hotel contestants Adam and Michael under fire for posting racist and misogynistic jokes online
THE Fortune Hotel contestants Adam and Michael have been caught sharing racist and misogynistic jokes on social media.
The tradesmen from Bognor Regis are currently starring in ITV’s new game show where ten pairs compete for £250k.
The duo have gained a huge following on their platforms under the handle The Naked Builders.
They regularly share funny videos taken on site, but one posted in April has caused a stir.
In the since-deleted video, Adam, 37 and Mike, 35, shared an offensive sketch where they imitated a Chinese doctor with a mocking accent.
They also made fun of a woman’s looks in the joke, making harsh comments about her face.
The clip, titled “Electricians joke”, had over 91,000 views on Instagram and over 63,000 plays on TikTok.
With filters over their faces, they told a story about a fictional woman who went to see the doctor because she was struggling to meet a man.
At the end of the video, the men burst out laughing and wrote: “Site jokes” in the caption.
The Fortune Hotel is set in a luxury Caribbean resort and is hosted by Stephen Mangan.
Contestants take part in challenges and lie to each other as they figure out who the betrayers are.
Adam and Mike already had a large following on social media before entering the programme but has continued to grow.
This isn’t the first time that the lads have posted offensive ‘joke’ videos.
In July last year and December 2022 they drew the outline of female genitalia in cement before the clip jumps to a goat wiggling its tongue.
“If you know you know,” they wrote in the caption with a winking emoji.
Another clip took aim at the transgender community, with one of them dressed as a tiler with a make up filter on his face.
Also in a mock Asian accent, he said: “I don’t want to be called David anymore, I want to be called Davina.”
The Sun has contacted ITV for comment.
The channel told MailOnline: “All contestants’ social media accounts undergo appropriate checks prior to filming as well as them being issued with guidance on how to operate on social media ahead of being seen on screen.
“We have spoken to the contestants about this post which was published after filming.”
When asked what they would spend their £250,000 prize money on if they won, they said they would “spoil” their children.
Mike said: “The first thing I’d do is take my daughter to Disney and spoil her with whatever she wanted. We’d also like to put the money together and buy some property.”
Adam agreed: “I’d want to go on an amazing family holiday with my girlfriend and my little boy. I’d then want to book another holiday where I could relax, unwind and work out what else to do with the money.”
The show has been slammed for its stark similarities to BBC’s The Traitors which sees contestants hide their true identities in order to win a huge cash prize.
After watching the first episode on Monday night, fans argued that it would “never compare” to the murder mystery series.
“What is this? The Traitors meets Coach Trip meets Deal of No Deal?” one wrote on X.
“Even the slowed down music being an absolute carbon copy of The Traitors,” said another.
“I’m going in watching The Fortune Hotel with an open mind, but nothing, and I mean nothing, is EVER going to compare to The Traitors,” echoed a third.
