Dr. Martens is teaming up with women’s streetwear brand MadeMe to help customers channel their inner “it girl” with the help of a shoe.
The first-time collaboration between the brands features a chunky 1461 Quad shoe. The platform slip-on comes in black or silver with a steel toe exposed through a silver heart shape cut-out. Purple shoe laces pair well with the silver version while a simple black comes with the black one. Dr. Martens signature yellow stitching goes around the side of the shoe with both brands’ logos imprinted on the backing.
The campaign images are edgy and stylish, with London-based artist Lola Young at the helm. The “it girl” mood the brands are coming together to create are personified via Young’s raw charm and punchy, versatile voice that embody the take-it-or-leave-it mindset of the quintessential Madegirl.
“I’ve always wanted to work on a steel toe DM’s shoe,” Erin Magee, the founder of MadeMe said in a press release. “The heart cut-out leather exposing the steeltoe is as tough and utilitarian as it is soft. It’s a beautiful contradiction, just like the MadeMe girl.”
Dr. Martens have been seen on many celebrities on the red carpet and city streets all over the world. Robert Pattinson wore them to a ‘Twilight’ event back in 2008 while musician Avril Lavigne has been seen in them for years. Other stars like Taylor Momsen, Kristen Stewart and Gwen Stefani are also big fans of the infamous yellow stitched shoes.
“I’ve known Erin for a long time, so it was great to finally bring this collaboration to life, “Dr. Martens Global Creative Director, Darren McKoy shared. “In a lot of ways our collaboration was inevitable. MadeMe occupies that same rebellious space in women’s fashion that DM’s boots always have. It was great to put a spin on that heritage for a new generation.”

About the Brands
Women’s streetwear label MadeMe launched in 2007. Since its launch, Magee has come into a highly-dominated male world and helped turn the brand into an ever-present brand in New York City “for girls, by girls.”
Dr. Martens line of rebellious yet stylish and edgy boots and shoes have been made for rockers and “riot grrrls” all over the world since 1945. They went into production officially in 1947 by Dr. Klaus Maertens, a 25-year-old soldier and medical doctor who created a unique air-cushioned sole to help heal his broken foot.
