New ice cream shop opens in Schoharie

SCHOHARIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Savage Scoops Ice Cream Shop is having its official grand opening on Friday at noon. The ice cream shop had its soft opening last weekend.

"We were inspired by two things," said owner Cecil Savage. "First, working at an ice cream shop last summer was a blast. Seeing the joy a delicious scoop can bring is truly rewarding, and we wanted to recreate that happiness in Schoharie. Second, we noticed the village lacked a shop offering soft serve ice cream, a creamy classic perfect for cones, sundaes, and milkshakes."

Savage Scoops offers a rotating selection of King Brothers Dairy ice cream in both hard and soft serve flavors. The shop also has Dole Soft Serve with rotating flavors and a variety of No Sugar Added and Oatmazing flavors from Hershey's Ice Cream.

"We're thrilled to bring a local ice cream shop back to the village of Schoharie," said Savage. "This shop holds special memories for us-- it's the same location as the beloved Grampa George's, where we enjoyed ice cream as kids. We can't wait to create new sweet memories for the community!"

Savage Scoops is open from noon to 9 p.m. every day and is located at 434 North Main Street. Savage plans to have the shop open for the season through at least December.
