Michigan poultry ranch lays off 400 employees due to bird flu

SARANAC, Mich. — Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch in Michigan is temporarily laying off 400 workers, ranging from accounting to feed mill employees to supervisors, following the detection of H5N1, or bird flu, in its flocks.
