Tokyo stocks end mixed amid bargain-hunting, Wall Street falls

TOKYO, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed mixed on Friday as bargain-hunting in bank and other oversold stocks offset earlier losses that tracked overnight falls on Wall Street.

Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended down 132.88 points, or 0.34 percent, from Thursday at 38,787.38.
