Lucas Bergvall has thanked Tottenham Hotspur after the North London club helped correctly diagnose the injury of his brother, Theo, and helped him rehabilitate.

It has been well-documented in the Swedish press that Tottenham and Djurgardens struck up a partnership when they agreed a deal for Lucas Bergvall’s transfer to North London during the January window.

It was even revealed by Djurgardens sporting director Bosse Andersson back in March that Spurs stepped in to offer specialist medical help for Theo Bergvall, the brother of the North London club’s most recent signing, Lucas (FotbollDirekt).

19-year-old Theo, who plays as a full-back, has successfully recovered from his injury and made his comeback against Elfsborg on Sunday, coming on for his brother.

According to Expressen, the right-back was diagnosed with ‘compartment syndrome’, which was only discovered due to the help of the Lilywhites’ medical department.

Speaking about his injury and Tottenham’s intervention, Theo told the Swedish publication: “They opened a door for us. They took me in and diagnosed me in London. A contact that they had. It was really nice. They were 99% sure of what it was.

“It had previously been ruled out as a concern. It was a lot of work. It took a while, but now I’m just glad it’s fixed.”

Lucas also thanked his parent club for stepping in and helping his brother recover swiftly.

The midfielder, who will arrive at Hotspur Way this summer, said about the Premier League side’s gesture: “Very nice and great of them to help. It was great for my brother to come back from his injury.

When asked who requested Tottenham’s help for Theo, he said: “Well, maybe it was Bosse [Andersson, sporting director] a little more.”

While this was a great gesture by Tottenham, it is also perhaps a sign that they are serious about a potential partnership with Djurgardens, potentially even planning on using them as a feeder club in the future.
