I spent $4 on a purse at a yard sale – a receipt from the ’80s was still in the pocket and confirmed its real value

A YARD sale shopper scored the ultimate vintage find while checking out purses.

They only spent $4 on the bag, but an old receipt showed that it’s worth more.

Redditor Big_philosopher9993 posted the find on the social media platform.

“My boyfriend told me to check out a yard sale that he saw on his lunch break,” they said.

“I found this vintage Gucci at the bottom of a tote with the original purchase receipt from the ’80s in the pocket.

“I spent $4 on this bag.”

REAL WORTH

The Redditor included several photos of the bag, which was white and featured the brand’s signature double “G” logo.

“She needs a really good cleaning and some love but you can’t beat this for $4,” they said.

The bag was originally purchased in 1989 for $220.48, marked down from $260, according to the receipt.

SECONDHAND STYLE

The purse drew in other Redditors who weighed in on the yard sale score in the comments section.

“Keep the boyfriend and keep the receipt,” one wrote.

“Proof it’s an old receipt,” another added.

“The credit card was imprinted on the paper by using the old pressure roller over the card under the paper method.”

“What a great find, and with the original receipt. $4, lol,” said a third.

“I like this subtle white-on-white logo much better than the usual brown-on-tan.”

“I love how subtle it is,” the original poster replied.

“I can’t wait to start cleaning it up, it really needs some elbow grease.

“I don’t own a designer bag so I’m extra looking forward to it.

“I also got a ’90s Nike duffle bag from the yard sale for another $4. Such a win.”

“Such a great find,” yet another agreed. “The garage sales near me don’t have nearly as good of a selection.”

One Redditor even had advice for sprucing up the old purse.

“If the inside is sticky at all, Gucci used PVC for their bag linings in the ’80s,” they pointed out. “A cobbler may be able to re-line it for you.”
