The Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan has announced that the Turkish Ambassador, during his visit to Kabul, reported the shipment of 20 tons of initial aid and 650 tons of humanitarian aid for the flood victims in the country, especially in Baghlan province.

On Thursday, May 16th, this ministry issued a statement saying that Cenk Unal, the Turkish envoy to Afghanistan, expressed his sympathy to the families of the flood victims during his meeting with the Taliban Minister of Economy.

The statement quoted the Turkish Ambassador stating that he has ensured the transfer of 650 tons of humanitarian aid including tents, food supplies, spices, clothing, and other necessary items to the flood victims through the railway in the coming days.

According to the ministry, 20 tons of initial aid from Turkey will enter the country via Mazar-i-Sharif airport and humanitarian aid will be transported through the Torghundi port in Herat province.

Cenk Unal also informed about the continuation of Turkey’s humanitarian and emergency aid to Afghanistan.

Similarly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has also reported the shipment of 42 tons of humanitarian aid, including food supplies and necessary equipment, to the flood victims in Baghlan province.

This is occurring while deadly floods in recent days in various provinces of the country, including Baghlan, Takhar, Badakhshan, Faryab, and Herat, have led to human casualties and significant financial damage.

The United Nations and several relief organizations have previously called for the provision of immediate humanitarian aid to the country’s flood victims.

According to the report, more than 300 people have died only in two districts of Baghlan province due to the devastating floods.
