A WOMAN has left people stunned by showing the state of her £700 sofa after it was accidentally ruined on a play date.

She explained that a child had managed to tip red oil all over the pricey sofa, writing it off in the process.

“What would you do if your friend’s child did this to your £700 sofa?” she wrote over the top of her TikTok video.

In the clip, she showed that the sofa cushions had been covered in the substance.

And it had also dripped down the front of the sofa too.

“Maybe I tell the papa to pay?” she captioned the video.

Someone in the comments section asked the woman to elaborate on what had happened, and she replied: “It’s red oil her godmother gave me.

“I asked her to keep it safe but unfortunately the baby was watching her.

“After she left I went inside to get something just for 3 minutes…”

And it was at that time that the accident happened.

“Do the parents have liability insurance for the kids?” one person commented on the video.

“If so the insurance will cover the costs for a new couch.”

“To be honest I will try to clean it if don’t work I will throw it,” another suggested.

“Life is too short to be angry for something that will break or fall apart in future anyway.

“But that’s me I cannot speak for others.”

“I thought that was diarrhoea,” a third wrote.

“Ask them to pay to get it professionally cleaned,” someone else said.

“Tbh I wouldn’t expect anything but help cleaning it up,” another added.

How to child-proof your home

AS Amy Childs faces criticism that her lavish new home may not be suitable for kids, here's some quick and easy ways you can child-proof your house.

One thing that Amy will have to do pretty quickly is to install stair gates and the top and bottom of the staircase. This is vital, especially once children are on the move – either walking or crawling.

She will also have to child-proof her kitchen. Kitchen cupboards are a thing of wonder for babies, as they seem to be full of things to play with, and delicious things to eat. So make sure you install locks on all the drawers and cupboards in the kitchen – particularly the ones containing cleaning products, or anything sharp and dangerous.

Slipping could be a real issue in a house like Amy and Billy’s, with so much marble flooring. Socks with grippers on them could be a good idea, while it will also be important for them to put protectors on sharp corners of furniture to prevent any unfortunate head bumps.

And pulling electrical cords out of the way is also an important child-proofing step. Once again, if children see loose cords, their natural instinct is to pull them, which could potentially result in serious accidents.

“If my child did it I would offer to help pay for a new one, clean up, if they said no to help – deffo some throw blankets,” someone else wrote.

“That why I choose a leather sofa – because of children.. until they are big,” another added.

To which the woman responded that it was the only one available to buy “during lockdown”.

Others insisted they should be offering to buy her a new sofa.

“They better be looking at a new sofa to buy for me,” one wrote.

With the woman replying: “Be calming down, it’s just a child!”

“Nah they getting me a new one cause what?” another said.

“So you’re going to end your friendship over a sofa like that?” someone else commented.

In another video, the woman revealed she had done her best to clean the sofa up, but it was still stained.

So the child’s father gave her some money to compensate, and she’s now ordered a sofa cover which will be with her soon.
