Softball

Carver A&T 13, Loch Raven 1: Carver put up five runs in the top of the first and matched it in the second inning, en route to a dominant regional championship. Emily Hamp doubled, singled and drove in five runs to lead the offense. Mia McGarvey homered and drove in three runs. Madison Schupple, who pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts, had three hits and Maya Einolf had two RBIs.

Hereford 14, Milford Mill 0: Nine second inning runs set the Bulls off toward a decisive regional championship victory. Taylor Roberts had two hits, including a home run, and five RBIs. Lauren Clement had two hits and two RBIs. In the circle, Roberts and Clement combined on a one-hitter, each striking out four.

Bel Air 13, Edgewood 0: The Bobcats completed a run through 3A North Region II where they outscored their three opponents 42-0. In Thursday’s win, Sofia Gallahue threw a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts. She also had four hits at the plate. Elizabeth Zarsona had two hits and three RBIs. Kalea Stein homered and drove in two. Sadie Whittaker also finished with two RBIs.

Baseball

St. Mary’s 8, McDonogh 1: Winning pitcher Brian Sands went seven innings, gave up one run on six hits and struck out five and the host Saints beat the Eagles.  St. Mary’s advances to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference final Sunday at noon at Joe Cannon Stadium. McDonogh falls into the lower bracket and faces the winner of Severn/Boys’ Latin Friday. The winner advances to Sunday’s final.
