FANS of The Repair Shop have called on the BBC to shake-up the show following Jay Blades’ departure.
The furniture restorer and anchor of the beloved series has stepped back following his marriage split.
Jay, 54, has been at the forefront of The Repair Shop since it launched in 2017.
But now viewers have called on execs to revamp the show’s format as the latest episode aired.
They’ve demanded bosses axe the emotional back stories of the participants and focus the time on the workers carrying out the fascinating repairs.
Writing on social media, one said: “I wish the @BBC would have a word with @TheRepairShop producers… Used to be a great show about great crafts people , great skill and artistry on show , watching the repairing was amazing.. Now it’s become a This Is Your Life show with very little time showing the repairs.”
A second agreed, posting: “I want more repairs and less sob stories.”
Jay still featured in the latest episode, which was recorded last year before his marriage breakdown.
Last month his wife Lisa revealed she had left him — 18 months after they married.
In a shock statement, Lisa said she felt “broken”, adding: “The world got the best parts of my husband.
“I got a whole lot of everything else.”
The Sun revealed how Jay had agreed with Beeb bosses to step back from the programme temporarily.
We also told how the Londoner removed all traces of The Repair Shop from his social media accounts – before adding it back when queried by The Sun.
It’s been an incredibly tough time for Jay who also revealed last month his uncle Richard Brathwaite had been killed.
