Kansas State transfer guard Dai Dai Ames commits to Virginia
By SAM LANCE
After an impressive freshman year at Kansas State, guard Dai Dai Ames is now heading to Virginia, per reports. ESPN’s Jeff Borzello was first.
Ames — the 6-foot-1, 185-pound guard from Chicago — took an official visit to Virginia last week. Now, he’s a Cavalier.
Ames averaged 5.2 points, 2.0 assists and 1.1 rebounds in an average of 20.5 minutes for Kansas State last season. Ames was playing his best basketball to end the season and finished with 16 points and five assists in Kansas State’s final game of the season.
Out of high school, Ames was the No. 64 overall prospect and No. 2 prospect in the state of Illinois, giving him four-star status.
Tony Bennett and Virginia have now added five players through the transfer portal in Ames, former Duke forward TJ Power, former Florida State guard Jalen Warley, former San Diego State power forward Elijah Saunders and former Vanderbilt center Carter Long.
